Probably not long ago after starting a photo-a-day blog, it occurred to me that it was done largely out of wanting to create something beautiful.


This did not mean I wanted to take pictures of only pretty things, I wanted to create something which, in its whole, was a thing of beauty. Beauty, to me, is contained in not just things, but the presentation of truth.


Several years ago, a friend of mine who does photography told me in a bit of a venting moment that "she just wants to take pictures of pretty things".




It only occurred to me just now that we were at least in some way, talking about the same thing.
